Katavolos takes its name from our mountainous and heroic vineyard located in Mesa Vouni in Andros. It is a red, dry, organic wine that is also suitable for vegans. The wine has a deep purple color with Bordeaux highlights. It is characterized by concentrated aromas of ripe black fruits and pleasant, soft tannins. It features a prolonged aftertaste of black fruit.
The vineyards are old and pre-phylloxerated, planted in the traditional sprawled form, low to the ground, oriented to the south. They are perfectly adapted to the microclimate of the area and yield a low per-acre harvest (350 kilograms per stremma).
Harvesting is done by hand in mid-September. The alcoholic fermentation occurs naturally, at a controlled temperature of 23°C. To best preserve its characteristics, our wine is bottled unfiltered, expressing the uniqueness of its flavor and aroma. Both the vineyard and the winery are certified for organic cultivation.
