"Petrenia" is the first wine we bottled and it took its name from the eponymous medicinal spring of our village, next to the shelter of Panagia Petrenia in Mesa Vouni of Andros. This wine of ours is organically produced and bottled in our vineyard, from the white local vine varieties of aidani, athiri, and potamisi.
The vineyards are aged from 35-70 years, and some exceed 150 years. They are deep-rooted and fully adapted to the geological and climatic conditions of the area. They are cultivated with traditional techniques, spread on the ground without supports, with low yields of 300-400 kilos per srtemma. The harvest is done manually in early September. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the must, during its boiling, is cooled at a controlled temperature of 16°C. Our wine, "Petrenia", is white, dry, organic, suitable for vegans, with golden reflections, mineral aromas, and a pleasant refreshing aftertaste. It is bottled unfiltered, with all the distinctive characteristics given by our place...
Above our vineyard (close to the hiking path marked as No. 5), there is a small chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary (Panagia), and next to it, beneath the shade of a centuries-old plane tree, lies the spring named "Petrenia." This spring is considered one of the most significant medicinal springs on the island of Andros. The setting is idyllic, rich with memories for us and also cherished by our visitors. The area offers delightful strolls with the backdrop of the stone-built spring, where the bubbling therapeutic waters come alive, creating a symphony of sounds, and a kaleidoscope of colors and scents. The joy one experiences from the crystal-clear waters of this rejuvenating spring, in our opinion, parallels the pleasure one derives from our wine, “Petrenia”.
